Welcome to PageTest.AI! In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to use your dashboard to view, interpret, and manage your live content tests—so you can make data-driven decisions that improve conversions and on-page SEO.
Getting Started
When you log into your PageTest.AI account, you'll land on the dashboard. Here’s what you’ll see and how to understand it:
Dashboard Metrics
Websites – The number of websites you’ve connected.
Pages – Total number of individual pages with live tests.
Tests – Number of content tests you've created.
Variants – Number of different content variations across all tests.
Impressions – How many times these tests have been shown to users.
Recommendations – Total winning variations PageTest.AI has identified so far.
Visualizing Your Testing Data
Test Impressions (Daily)
You’ll see a daily chart showing how your impressions are distributed across your websites. This gives you a quick snapshot of your testing volume over time.
Content Test Recommendations
Scroll down to the bottom of the dashboard to find active improvement suggestions. These highlight content tests where PageTest.AI has found statistically significant improvements.
For example, you might see a test on your homepage’s main CTA button showing a 241% improvement in clicks with one of the test variants.
Exploring a Content Test in Detail
Click any recommendation to jump into the specific page and test.
There, you’ll see:
Test name and page context
Your control content (the original version)
Each variant being tested
The split percentage (how traffic is divided between variants)
Total impressions and click results
Performance indicators:
Green: Performing better than the control
Red/Pink: Underperforming compared to the control
Gold Trophy: The current top-performing variant (aka the winner)
Example
If your control CTA is: “Get my app free”, and a test variant “Make my app free and easy” shows a 306% improvement, PageTest.AI will flag that as the winning recommendation.
This means you can confidently implement the change to improve performance.
Navigating Between Tests
Back on the dashboard, you can:
Filter tests by URL
See test names and assigned priorities (higher priorities get more impressions)
Track multiple tests on a single page
Spot wins quickly with green and gold indicators
You can also toggle between date ranges and set a custom reporting window for deeper insight.
Using the Chrome Extension
The Chrome extension syncs directly with your dashboard.
When you open a page with active tests and click “Test This Page,” you’ll see:
All tests linked to that page
Element names (e.g., headline, button, strapline)
Variant priorities matching what’s shown in the dashboard
This makes it easy to confirm which elements are live, test settings, and track performance.
If you haven't installed the Chrome Extension already, click here to install it now.
Managing Tests
From the dashboard, you can:
Pause or activate tests
Adjust test priorities
Dive into each element’s performance
Use filters to find tests by page, site, or improvement level
Implementing Winning Variants
When a test reaches statistical significance, PageTest.AI recommends the winning variant. You can then:
Review performance metrics
See how much better it performed vs. the control
Manually implement the content change on your site
This leads to better on-page SEO, higher engagement, and improved conversion rates.
